Festivals in the province of Tarragona

The most significant parties

The province of Tarragona and the Costa Dorada enjoy a wide calendar of festivals spread throughout the year. We have selected the most notable ones so that you do not miss any interesting party.

The appointments begin in February with the Coso Blanco in Salou, its biggest winter festival. A night full of madness, confetti and costumes that brightens up the gray winter for both locals and visitors.

In March you can enjoy the Dixieland Festival in Tarragona. For a few days the streets and squares of the city are filled with jazz and Dixieland music, happiness and parties to delight the ears and encourage all those who want to let themselves be carried away by the magic of music to dance.

On April 23, the festival of Sant Jordi is celebrated throughout Catalonia. This is a very special festival for the Catalans, since it is Valentine’s Day in which the girls receive a rose and the boys a book as a sign of love. Streets and squares are filled with stalls selling books and roses and a festive atmosphere is breathed throughout the country.

Also in April, Montblanc celebrates the medieval week that revolves around the legend of Sant Jordi. A few days during which the city goes back to the 17th century, filling its streets with food stalls and medieval trades, historical reenactments, game workshops and medieval music. A charming party that has been celebrated for more than 25 years.

In the month of May, the already mythical Trapezi festival, the circus fair of Catalonia, is celebrated in Reus. For a few days, the newest proposals of the European circus can be seen in the city with shows designed for both families and adult audiences.

Also in May, the Tarraco Viva festival is held in Tarragona, which for a few days returns Tarraco to the Roman Empire and its heyday. Gastronomy, history, shows,… a great offer both to learn and to be entertained.

June is the month of festivals par excellence: San Juan and San Pedro mark the beginning of summer in all the towns and cities of the territory.

June is the month of festivals par excellence: San Juan and San Pedro mark the beginning of summer in all the towns and cities of the territory. Verbenas, music, outdoor dinners, dances and bonfires to celebrate the short nights and their magic.

In Tarragona the Minipop festival is celebrated during June. Designed for the little ones to enjoy live music, dancing and partying from their childhood: parents and children, music, joy… a great idea that has been carried out a few years ago but that has all the signs of becoming in a classic

During the month of July the Renaissance festival is celebrated in Tortosa. For a few days the city returns to the 16th century and recovers all the splendor it had at that time: days full of festivities, historical re-enactments, theater and joy that overflow the streets and squares of this beautiful city in southern Catalonia.

Also during the month of July the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen, the patron saint of fishermen, are celebrated. So in most coastal towns and cities there are maritime processions and events to celebrate the patron saint of sailors.

In Tarragona city, the international fireworks contest is also held during this month. For a few nights the sky of the city is filled with drawings and colored shapes and the beaches are filled with friends and families who dine on the sand while watching the show.

In the month of August the Golden Nights are celebrated in Salou with numerous and varied possibilities to enjoy the hot August nights. Cambrils also offers a wide range of quality music with the Cambrils International Music Festival.

In September, Reggus takes place in Reus, the reggae music festival for lovers of rhythm. And in Cambrils the Nit del Foc is celebrated, a night full of fire and devils. A special evening that marks the end of summer and ends with music until the wee hours of the morning.

And in September we also have the great festivals of Reus and Tarragona, La Misericordia and Santa Tecla that offer the best of popular culture to all those who want to enjoy the festivities.
