The 5 best coves of the Costa Dorada

The Costa Dorada is much more than long beaches and lively beach bars. Among its cliffs and Mediterranean forests are hidden authentic jewels: small coves, with crystal clear waters, where time seems to slow down. Today we invite you to discover the best 5 coves of the Costa Dorada that breathe the same essence that defines our vacations: nature, freedom and simplicity.

If you stay at Camping Cambrils Caban, you are less than an hour away from some of these magical places. So put this list away, get your swimsuit ready, and… start exploring!

Cala Fonda (Waikiki) – Tarragona

Located 6km north of Tarragona, this cove is one of the best kept secrets of the Costa Dorada. It has no services, no urbanizations, no bars. Just golden sand, pine-covered cliffs and a sea that shimmers in a thousand shades of blue.

Being an isolated beach, its access is a bit complicated. But precisely because of this, the reward is twofold: absolute peace and a feeling of total disconnection. Ideal if you are looking for a day at the beach without noise, without stress and without artifice.

✨ Perfect for: adventurers, slow travel lovers and for those who value nature without filters.

Crancs Cove – Salou

At the end of Cap de Salou we find this small shell-shaped cove, protected from the wind and surrounded by vegetation. Its waters are calm, shallow and perfect for the little ones to splash around safely.

Access is relatively easy and, although it is somewhat crowded in summer, its atmosphere is still much more relaxed than that of the larger beaches. From its rocks you can see fish and even crabs if you wear snorkeling goggles.

🦀 Perfect for: families with children and for diving and snorkeling lovers.

Jovera Cove – Tamarit

What makes this cove special is not only its natural beauty, but the impressive medieval castle of Tamarit that presides over it. You will feel like you are inside a postcard.

Despite being close to a tourist area, it maintains a quiet atmosphere thanks to its small size. Access is relatively easy, and the setting makes it an ideal place to take photos, relax or even read a book in the shade.

The contrast between history, rock, forest and sea makes it an authentic and memorable place, one of those that remain engraved in the memory.

🏰 Perfect for: couple getaways, relaxing moments or family picnics with fairytale views.

Forn Cove – L’Ametlla de Mar

This cove represents everything we love about the Mediterranean: clear waters, native vegetation, reddish rocks and golden sand that invites you to spread out your towel and stay for hours.

Although it is more accessible and has some basic services, it maintains a calm energy, very different from urban beaches. Here you can come with children, with friends or as a couple, and everyone will find their own corner.

In addition, it is part of the GR-92, so you can combine a swim with a walk along the coastal path, enjoying spectacular views.

🌊 Perfect for: combining coastal hiking with swimming, and enjoying in a group without giving up the calm.

Mermaids’ Cove – Miami Platja

There are places that don’t need much to win you over. Just arrive, take a deep breath and let nature do the rest. Cala Sirenas, in Hospitalet de l’Infant, is one of those places. A small cove, 170 meters long, hidden among rocks and pine trees, where the silence is only broken by the murmur of the sea.

Its access is not complicated, but not obvious, and that gives it an air of a secret cove. One of those that you want to discover calmly and keep just for you. The sand is golden, the waters are clear and calm, perfect for a long swim or to float while leisurely gazing at the sky.

However, it should be noted that its entrance to the sea is quite steep, so it is not suitable for small children.

🧜‍♀️ Perfect for: quiet getaways and real disconnection.
