Winter plans for nostalgic campers

Do you miss camping? Here are ideas to keep the camper spirit alive as you look forward to the 2026 season.

We know. The cold arrives, the days are getting shorter, and the campsite is closed. In November, the body asks for a blanket and a fireplace… but the mind is still in summer mode. If you are one of those who miss the tent, the walks at dawn or the sound of crickets at night, this article is for you.

Because being a camper is not just a summer activity: it’ s a way of life. And although the campsite is on hiatus, the camping spirit is still very much alive.

Here we share with you some winter plans for nostalgic campers, perfect to reconnect with you, with nature and with the essence of an authentic vacation.

Day trip to the mountains or forest

Even if you can’t camp, a day trip can help you disconnect from the urban pace and reconnect with the essentials. Grab a backpack, pack some sandwiches, bring a thermos of hot tea and go for a walk. If you go with children, even better: let them get dirty, jump in puddles, discover bugs.

💡 Tip: take a notebook to write down or draw what you find, as you would do at the campsite. It will be a nice souvenir!

Make a camper’s corner at home

Recreate at home a little corner that reminds you of your days in Cambrils Caban: a mat on the floor, a lamp with warm light, summer photos, a playlist with crickets and sea breeze.

It’s your little refuge for when you need a mental break.

You can even make a theme night with the kids: camping dinner in the living room, sleeping bag and flashlight stories.

Camper space at home

Review summer photos and videos (and organize your album)

This is the perfect time to sort through all those photos you took during your vacation. Review them at your leisure, print them or create a digital album. And if you feel like it, share them on social networks mentioning @campingcambrilscaban. We love to see how you experience camping from your point of view.

You can even design and create your own photo frames, and take advantage of the opportunity for the kids to enjoy a craft that, later on, will represent a memory forever.

Readings that smell like camping

There are books that transport you to the forest even if you’re on the couch. We recommend:

Walden by Henry David Thoreau: A timeless classic about simple living in nature. Thoreau recounts his experience living in a cabin in the woods, and reflects on time, freedom and the value of the essential. Ideal to read slowly, with a hot tea, and let yourself be inspired.

The Art of Camping by Matthew De Abaitua: More than a manual, it is a profound and somewhat rebellious reflection on what it means to camp. It mixes personal memories with cultural history of the campsite, all with a close and inspiring tone.

Little Retreats by Erin Loechner: A book for creating your own refuge, even in the midst of the daily noise. Loechner invites you to slow down, to simplify, to reconnect with what really matters. Although it does not speak directly of camping, its spirit is 100% relatable.

Reading books in nature.

Prepare your equipment for next season

It’s a good time to check the tent, wash sleeping bags, repair camping gear and make a list of what you’ll need for 2026. Planning is also part of the journey.

🛒 And if you have to renovate something, in winter you can find good deals.

Winter is also part of the journey

Being a camper is not just a summer activity. It is an attitude: to live simply, to value the essential, to savor the small moments. And even though the campground is quiet now, we know that many of you still feel like campers every day.

Thank you for still being there. For thinking of us when it smells like pine, when you see a caravan pass by or when someone utters the word “disconnection”.

Summer will return. And we can’t wait! 🥰
