Roman amphitheater
Tarragona preserves this incredible and majestic amphitheater built in the 2nd century AD . With capacity for more than 14,000 spectators, it offers a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean Sea.
Inside, gladiator fights with wild beasts were held, as well as public executions.
Today, part of the northern grandstand carved into the rock and part of the southern grandstand are preserved.

Tarragona Cathedral
Be impressed by this sublime example of Catalan Gothic architecture. Built on an ancient Paleochristian basilica, the cathedral houses artistic treasures, such as the main altarpiece and the side chapels.
The Cathedral of Tarragona was declared a National Monument in 1905. Construction began in the 12th century in Romanesque style, continued in Gothic and was consecrated in 1331, but was left unfinished because of the Black Death.

This is considered one of the best preserved circuses in the West due to its exceptional condition. It was built at the end of the first century A.D. by the Roman Emperor Domitian.
